Mumbai, December 20: Mumbai witnessed a massive anti-Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) protest at the August Kranti Maidan at Grant Road in which over 25,000 Mumbaikars took part. The protest began with fear that what would cops do at the protest, ended with Mumbai Police receiving praise from maintaining law and order and letting the event progress peacefully without any incident, unlike in Bangalore and Delhi. People from social organisations, students, politicians, celebrities and people in their individual capacities supported the protest holding placards against the Citizenship law and in support of democracy and the Constitution of India. Thousands gathered at August Kranti Maidan and moved peacefully, with Mumbai police keeping a tight watch.

Praising cops for letting event progress harmoniously, comedian Vir Das said, "Thank you Mumbai Police, and the citizens they protect. Could not be more proud to live here."
