Kylie Jenner, the youngest self-made billionaire recently found herself in a pickle after she threw a Handmaid's Tale-themed party for one of her best friends, Anastasia Karanikolaou this weekend. Kylie shared her snaps on her Instagram stories and has garnered flak all over the internet. In the party, you can see Kylie and her companions wearing bonnets and robes worn by the characters in the show. It also included the costumed servers and Gilead posters. Twitterati found the party to be utterly "disturbing" and "tone-deaf" and accused her of glorifying the practice of women forced into sexual servitude. The party was inspired by the show, The Handmaid's Tale which is an American dystopian drama web television series created by Bruce Miller, based on the 1985 novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood. The hit Hulu series, depicts the era of the totalitarian state of Gilead, where women were raped and forced to give birth to children to be raised by high-ranking officials and their wives. The videos and pictures from the party for Karanikolaou featured Handmaid robes for guests, Gilead posters, and Marthas dressed servers. Pictures from the party showed Jenner, Karanikolaou, and Sofia Richie posing and taking selfies in the robes. People are aghast seeing Kylie donning the outfit as a party costume. She has been called "tone-deaf" and "disgusting". She is been accused of "hypersexualize the red robes" for fun. She is being called out for glorifying rape & oppression of women that is still pretty much existent across America.
