Navi Mumbai, April 22: A shocking incident of indecent behaviour has come to light from Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai, where a young couple was caught on camera having sex in a civic-run bus. The alleged incident is said to have taken place on Sunday evening, April 20, when the NMMC-run bus was travelling from Panvel to Kalyan. The "sex on bus" has led to a row in Navi Mumbai, with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) initiating departmental action against the conductor of the bus.

According to a report in , the couple were reportedly caught on camera having sex inside the moving bus. The alleged incident came to light after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The 22-second video clip was captured by a motorist who spotted the couple in a compromising position. Speaking about the incident, a senior official of Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport, the civic body's transport wing, said that an action has been initiated against the bus conductor for not being alert and stopping the couple. "When it slowed down due to heavy traffic, someone took a video of the couple and sent it to some senior NMMC officials," he added. As per the report, the couple were caught having sex in the back row of the moving NMMC-run AC bus. So far, the civic body has not contacted the police regarding the incident.

It must be noted that an obscene act in public can attract a jail term of three months and/or a fine of INR 1,000 under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
