If this scoop is true, then we can already hear the controversies knocking on Aamir Khan's door. But then, since the project itself has not yet been officially announced, we have to take it with a pinch of salt. It has been reported that after Thugs of Hindostan comes out, Aamir Khan will spend all his energies in making a trilogy on Mahabharata for which he will spend the next ten years on. Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries is reportedly financing the trilogy that is budgeted to be around Rs 1000 crore.
It is not yet confirmed which character Aamir Khan will be playing in the movie, but as per a report in Bollywood Hungama.com, he is taking on the role of the fierce Pandava warrior, Arjuna. The same report also states that Aamir is in talks with his good friend Salman Khan to take on the role of Lord Krishna, who had been Arjuna's guide, best friend and brother-in-law (Arjuna had married Krishna's sister Subhadra).
The report quotes a film-maker close to both the superstars saying, "Salman has been keen to do his own version of the Mahabharat. When he heard Aamir is doing it he offered to pitch in. Aamir has spoken to Salman to play Krishna."
While the casting really looks interesting, we are quite sure that Salman might avoid taking on the role. Moreover, even if it comes true, we do wonder how the hardcore Right-wing activists will look at the casting.
