Abhishek Bachchan was last seen as one of the male leads in the 2016 movie, Housefull 3. along with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Jackie Shroff. Even though the movie was a decent hit and Abhishek was not too bad in it, he stay away from film sets for more than two years. Now finally he has signed a movie - Manmarziyaan - which is directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Aanand L Rai. Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal also play the leads in the movie.

Earlier, Dulquer Salmaan was supposed to do the role that Abhishek Bachchan was roped in Manmarziyan, but he backed out of the project. Abhishek Bachchan himself was supposed to be play one of the leads in JP Dutta's upcoming war drama, Paltan. But a day prior to the shoot of the film, Abhishek bowed out of the movie. There were speculations that he was not happy with the length of his role, but no official reason was given. He was replaced by Harshvardhan Rane.
